Every year we award grants in our two cycles, once in the spring and once in the fall, these are the recipients of grants in Fall 2023.
In our fall grant cycle we are investing $50,000 in the incredible, passionate, and effective work in our community. These nonprofit organizations inspire and enable kids to participate in athletics. On a daily basis, the individuals and volunteers at these community spaces provide access, inclusion, and opportunity for youth.
Adaptive Sports Northwest provides and promotes recreational, fitness, and competitive opportunities for people living with physical disabilities. Our grant will support general operating expenses like equipment, coaching, and rental of accessible facilities.
Community Cycling Center serves as a nonprofit hub offering new & used bicycles plus service & education opportunities. Our grant will help increase access for low-income youth cyclists in Portland.
Friends of Baseball promotes equal access, positive coaching experiences and supporting strong ecosystems for baseball and softball for kids ages 4 – 18. Our grant provides expansion support for the Full Court RBI: Girls Lead. This program focuses on girls’ access to athletics through a week-long summer program.
Girls on the Run promotes fun, evidence-based programs that inspire all girls, ages 4 – 18, to build their confidence, kindness and decision-making skills. Our grant provides support Girls on the Run Team at a school in an underserved community.
Innercity Basketball works with at-risk, gang-impacted youth to help them become the best student athletes they can be. Through basketball practices, skills training, and games, they teach teamwork, effort, consistency, and how to handle adversity. Our grant will support operations through contracted staff and non-personnel expenses such as facility rental costs, sports equipment, school supplies, and insurance.
LEAP creates empowering experiences for those facing adversity and trauma by providing wilderness programs. Our grant will support their Youth Wilderness Programs with support to run the programs and support the students participating.
NW Association for Blind Athletes works to enrich lives by providing opportunities through sports and physical activity to individuals who are blind and visually impaired. Our grant will support their Portland Metro Youth Programs.
Pacific University Handball provides opportunities through handball for student athletes regardless of financial capacity. Our grant is donor designated through the Emmerson Fund towards sport and fund expenses for athletes to participate tournament play.
Portland Community Football Club offers high quality, affordable club soccer to low-income, immigrant, and refugee youth from 5-18 years old in the Portland Metro area. Our grant will support equity-focused soccer program with wraparound family services for underserved communities.
Splash for Life program offers swim lessons, transportation to and from their school, and swim equipment for Title I schools. Our grant will help get kids back in the pools and keep them safe through the Tualatin Hills Parks and Recreation.
